The 2019-2020 winter sports season has come to an end. All our teams had successful seasons. Both our varsity basketball and soccer teams went undefeated in their regular seasons. As a result, they’ll both be moving up to Division 1 next year.

On February 20, the basketball team suffered a tough playoff loss against the Washington Eagles. Isabella Lima ‘20 said, “Playoffs were tough, especially knowing that I won’t be able to play with my teammates again, but the experience was fun. Knowing that we tried our best is what counts.” NaDiamond Frayer ‘22 talked about the close bond created amongst the team this season. She’s looking forward to “everyone coming back [next year] because we became more than a team. We became a family.”

The soccer team’s season was also cut short. They lost 2-3 in a close overtime game against the Lincoln Mustangs on February 25. Despite the tough loss, Gabriela Reyna ‘22 is hopeful for next season. She said, “The season was pretty good. We went undefeated and moved up to Division 1. Playoffs gave us a sneak peek on how it will be next year.” Angelina Fernandezes ‘22 added how, as a team who had previously gone 0-10, she’s “very proud of everyone.” She went on to say, “We’ll be older and better players next year. I’m excited to see our progression… At the end of the day, nobody should be sad or disappointed. We had an amazing season that we need to stand by and be proud of.”

Overall, our teams had great seasons and we should be proud of all the hard work they put in these past few months. Though we didn't get the exact outcome we had hoped for, expect both teams to come back even stronger next season.
