Crop tops are taking over runways, such as in Miu Miu’s 2022 spring collection. The spring collection is also full of neutral prints and colors such as grey, brown, and black.
On the other hand, one of my personal favorites, the Heaven by Marc Jacobs collection, is truly the definition of maximalism. The fall/winter collection has pieces recognizing classic movies such as E.T. , Garfield, and one of my favorite books and movies, the Virgin Suicides. Marc Jacobs is also collaborating with The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgender Community Center in New York donating $18 from every Just Like Life Baby Tee purchased.
On the same topic, bisexual R&B artist Frank Ocean recently launched his luxury brand Homer. His brand features bright, unique jewelry. The items range in price from under $1,000 to the most expensive item, which stands at $1.89 million. Unfortunately, designer, and friend of Frank Ocean, Virgil Abloh, creator of the Off-White line, recently passed away at the young age of 41 to cancer. Virgil was an inspiration to many, especially other black designers.
A popular black designer is Telfar Clemens, owner of Telfar. The brand is most well known for the iconic “Telfeezy” bag. The bag comes in many colors and is a perfect bag for everyday wear. This bag is very diverse and has been seen on many celebrities, such as Bella Hadid and even AOC. While fashion may seem like something that only affects our appearance, it can actually have a big impact on the world around us, such as in the environment, and social awareness.
